Palacio de Viana

A noble house that is really twelve courtyards with rooms attached.

Worth knowing

Viana is a palace built up over centuries around a sequence of twelve courtyards. Each is planted differently — one all pots, one a formal parterre, one shaded under an arcade — so walking through is a tour of what a Córdoba patio can be.

⭐ You can visit the courtyards alone or the courtyards and the house. If you are short on time the courtyards are the part that is unlike anywhere else.

It is a fifteen-minute walk north-east of the Mezquita, which puts it outside the crush. That alone makes it a good second half of a morning.

Our tip

Go for the patios rather than the interiors, and go slowly — they are the point.
